| The Train Line If you're going anywhere in the UK by train, this should be your first port of call. You can book tickets through the site using a credit card, or look at routes, or simply use the site to check out different prices before you go down to the station and buy your tickets in person. All in all, worth bookmarking. www.thetrainline.co.uk Eurostar For those of you using the Channel Tunnel, here's a well conceived site that has much to offer beyond the usual fare and timetable information. www.eurostar.co.uk GNER A businesslike site that has plenty going for it in terms of information and accuracy. GNER even has a train tracking system, so that you can see how late their trains are running. www.gner.co.uk Railtrack An efficient and practical example of the web at its best. The centrepiece is an online timetable into which you key in your starting and destination stations and the date and times of travel and it produces a number of options for you. www.railtrack.co.uk Virgin Trains A very clever site from Mr. Richard Branson. Like the Railtrack one, except you can also book your tickets online and it's bright and colourful too. www.virgintrains.co.uk London Transport This'll show you which bus or tube you need to catch to get from A to B in the capital. www.londontransport.co.uk |
