| BBC Schools Online Now why wasn't learning this fun when we were at school? The BBC continue to maintain their extremely high standard with this set of resources for Primary and Secondary schools - and those having their education at home. From Bitesize to Words and Pictures, it just has to be visited. Better than the TV any day. www.bbc.co.cuk/education/schools/ Learnfree From the Times Educational Supplement., Learnfree is a new Internet Service Provider aimed specifically at teachers, parents and learners themselves. Download direct from the site to join the service which includes more information and help than you can shake a stick at. www.learnfree.co.uk/ Argosphere One of the original UK educational websites and still a favourite with teachers, Argosphere has both a free section and a subscription section. Check out their recommended websites for some great links. www.argosphere.net/ Yahooligans "The Web Guide for Kids", this is basically a kiddie version of Yahoo - done simpler and livelier. In some ways to be preferred to the adult version. Go on, you know you want to! www.yahooligans.com PBS Teacher Source Great if you want a list of websites to use with children. Sites are found under subject after you click on Kids and Caregivers. Great for parents and teachers. www.pbs.org/teachersource/ StudentUK Incredibly flashy site for, yes, UK students. Includes news, advice, a search facility, and even online shopping! 'Univercity' gives members additional services, and there's a message board and chat room. www.studentuk.com/ DUKHEA Or the Directory of UK Higher Education Administrators. This has a complete list of university and college websites, plus appointments in higher education and general information on the educational front. www.mailbase.ac.uk/juga/ HEC Higher Education for Capability basically argues for education to be more practical rather than imparting knowledge without skills. Can be a bit wordy, but thought-provoking nevertheless. www.lle.mdx.ac.uk/hec/index.htm Freeserve Education Most of this is only available to Freeserve users - but as there's a one-in-three chance that you're using them, it's worth a mention. Plenty of revision support for various subjects. www.freeserve.net/education/ Schools Net A searchable directory of independent schools in the UK, as well as those which teach English as a Foreign Language. www.isuk.org.uk/ Homeschool World A US site but an essential starting point for any parents planning point for any parents planning on educating their children outside the conventional school system. www.home-school.com IPL Youth Division What can we say. Every resource, reference source, game, quiz, or project we could ask for. Excellent for kids and adults alike. www.ipl.org/youth Pearson A first-rate package of resources, giving practical help and guidance to teachers.. www.pearson.co.uk/education/primweb Tesco SchoolNet 2000 This is a truly ambitious piece of work.
